Drain cleaning in Kamloops
Drain cleaning clears a blocked or slow sewer or drain line and gets it running again. The question that matters is how: a cable gets a line open, flushing gets it clean, and the camera shows which one the line needed.

A Groess Underground does drain cleaning on residential, commercial and industrial lines in Kamloops, Sun Peaks, Chase, Barriere, Cache Creek, Merritt and the Shuswap. Book by phone on 250-377-5364, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Emergency call-outs run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
One slow drain or a blocked main?
One slow sink or tub is usually a problem in that fixture's own branch line. When several fixtures back up at once, or a floor drain comes up when the washing machine empties, the blockage is in the main line, and every fixture in the building is draining toward it.
A blocked main is the emergency case. Plunging one fixture only moves the water to another one. Stop running water and call 250-377-5364, any hour.
Cable or high pressure flushing?
A drain cable bores through the blockage and the line runs again. High pressure flushing takes the build-up off the wall of the pipe and carries it away. Both are on the truck, and they are not interchangeable.
If a line has been cabled more than once and keeps coming back, cabling is not solving it.
Cable
Opens a blocked line so it runs again. The build-up on the pipe wall stays where it was.
High pressure flushing
Scours grease, scale and root debris off the pipe wall, so the line is clean and not just open.
Camera
Shows what caused the blockage, so the next step is based on what is in the pipe and not a guess.
What keeps blocking a line
A repeat blockage has a cause. These are the ones a camera run usually turns up.
Grease and scale
Build-up narrowing the bore, worst on commercial kitchen lines. Flushing is the fix.
Roots
Fine roots entering at a leaking joint or crack, common in older Kamloops neighbourhoods. Root cutting, then flushing.
Bellies and offset joints
A sag that holds water or a joint stepped out of line. Cleaning buys time; the camera and locator show where a repair would go.
Ice
A shallow section that freezes in a cold snap. That is a thawing job, not a cleaning job.
Questions about drain cleaning
Do you clean drains in an emergency?
Yes. Emergency drain cleaning is lettered on the truck, and call-outs run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, on 250-377-5364.
Is drain cleaning the same as sewer line cleaning?
It is the same work at a different point in the system. A drain is usually a branch or fixture line inside the building. The sewer line is the main that carries everything from the building to the property line.
Will my drain just block again?
If the cause is still there, yes. Grease on the wall, roots at a joint or a sag holding water will rebuild the blockage. A camera run shows which one it is, and whether the answer is flushing, root cutting or a repair.
Should I try drain cleaner from the hardware store first?
On a fully blocked main it sits in the line and does very little except make the water that eventually comes back up caustic. If something has already gone down there, say so when you call.

High pressure steam flushing
High pressure steam flushing scours grease, scale and root debris off the inside wall of a sewer or drain line. A cable punches a hole through the blockage. Water at pressure takes it off the wall and carries it away. That difference is the whole reason this truck exists.
Sewer camera inspection
A sewer camera inspection shows the inside of a buried sewer or drain line on video. A camera on a push rod runs the length of the line and shows you what is actually in there. Guessing about a buried pipe is how people end up paying for the wrong repair.
Root cutting
Root cutting clears tree roots that have grown into a sewer line. Roots do not break into a sound pipe. They find a joint or a crack that is already leaking and grow toward the water. Cutting them is the treatment. Finding why they got in is the cure.
